Pirate Ship Cake

Jake and the Neverland Pirates Birthday Party

I think this is the one that really started it for me. It was 4 years and a different phone ago so there are not a lot of photos.

This was for my middle son’s 5th birthday party. He had never had a friend birthday party before and I Pinterested the sh*t out of this before that was a thing.

We dug for buried treasure, had tattoos, did a pin the tail game – it was pretty awesome. Big departure from the basement birthdays from my childhood.

We had the party at the local rec centre because his birthday is in January and we need more space. (Quick side note, this is the best idea because you don’t have to clean your house for the party, if there are parents who want to stay, you are not entertaining them, there are plenty of bathrooms and it is pretty cheap. I highly recommend this option!)

I used 2 cake box mixes and would do a ton of things differently – make my own frosting and use pudding for stability for starters.

I also used canned frosting – which is not ideal as it doesn’t have great stability… but hey not too bad.

My son was super excited for it and everyone was really impressed.
