Classic Pound Cake
May 23 2019
This is the first of three bakes that I am making for the party for my sister (plus some that I have already tried)
This one is easy
It has only six ingredients and I don’t think you can mess it up
I just made brownies and am now working on this batter.
Eggs, sugar, flour, butter -dare I say it, but what could go wrong.
I mixed all my ingredients and the batter is really thick. I can’t pour it, I have to scoop it out.
It is only a one pan pound cake so that it good.
Now we wait the hour that it needs to bake.
It got really big and crusty around the edges
I used a cake tester and it needs a little more time
An extra 10 minutes gives me a clean tester.
Now, I have baked this two days ahead of time for serving, so I will wrap it in Saran and put it aside until party prep time.
Party Prep Day: Well I am screwed!
I have made several items from the book for this party, some that I have made already and blogged about and some for the first time that are in upcoming posts
- Marble Cake with White Chocolate Glaze
- Madeleines
- Fudgy Chocolate Brownies
- French Almond Macarons
- One Bowl Chocolate Cupcakes
It is a good thing I always make too much because the inside of this pound cake was RAW
Yes RAW
I was slicing the cake to put on a serving platter – before everyone showed up thank God! – and the third slice was gooey
Gooey! Uncooked! Unservable!
I couldn’t believe it. It even baked with extra time and the cake tester came out clean
What happened!
I really don’t have time to get into what happened as I am throwing a party in a about an hour
I will say that with such a basic recipe and quantity of eggs required I will not be attempting a do-over.
Fail!
Not bakeable
